The Sisters of Hope program is a free and accessible initiative that provides an opportunity where survivors can come together in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment. This program includes access to appropriately trained staff in regards to FDV, reputable information, and the appropriate help via referral to support services. A key area of the program includes creating activities and training opportunities for example group cooking classes, practical seminars on learning how to live within a budget and/or training or information sessions run by subject matter experts and trained facilitators focusing on topics such as, self-worth, boundaries, advocacy and ways to overcome life’s various challenges.
The Sisters of Hope program utilises these sorts of outcome-based opportunities and activities to bring about positive change and many long-lasting effects for people affected by FDV.
Already this is one of our most popular initiatives leading to almost 150 women (not including their children) being able to utilise this program; promoting validation and acknowledgement, fostering learning and facilitation of empowerment, connecting, sharing and inspiration among those accessing the program. This provides a unique safe haven where women including their children are accepted and have a place to belong as they make new connections and friendships along their journey post crisis.
