About

About us

Danielle is a survivor of family and domestic violence and abuse where she was able to find the courage, hope and determination from deep within, to pave a new path for herself and her sons. Heartbreakingly, Danielle’s eldest son requires foster care which provides the appropriate distance from triggers and memories to enable for continued healing and recovery.

From lived experience, Danielle’s journey of learning and self-discovery has had a huge and positive impact on herself, her sons and other survivors whom she has mentored and supported through and beyond FDV.

A part of her journey included undertaking formal qualifications in community services and completing a nationally recognised FDV trainer program to gain the knowledge and tools to successfully advocate, support others and develop meaningful resources and initiatives to help address FDV.

Her passion is limitless and aims to give hope to other survivors and bridge the gap between government policy and agency support services for those affected by FDV. She does this by actively participating as subject matter expert for public and private sectors such as sitting on the Healthy Relationships Strategy Group and other committees within WA. Danielle is also a regular guest speaker at events to raise awareness and educate the public around FDV.

There is hope

A big driver for Danielle in developing and establishing Foundations of Hope includes her first hand experience with the distinct lack of opportunities to reach out and connect with other survivors in a safe, non-judgemental environment to enable inspiration, empowerment, validation, and acknowledgement of each other. Hence why the Sisters of Hope program eventuated.

Danielle found that there were also no step-by-step approaches to help others move through and beyond crisis. This led to her authoring a 14-day reflective book titled “There is Hope”; a free resource with content gleaned from real-life experiences, validated by those with lived experience, and step-by-step practical elements to empower and facilitate a person’s journey through and post-crisis.

Copies are available online and in hard copy at many key sites included and not limited to WA based women’s refuges.
